When Florence Knoll challenged Finnish-born architect and designer Eero Saarinen in 1948 to create a chair that she could curl up in, she had found an apt candidate for the task.

Materials & Features
By applying foam moulded over a fibreglass shell, Saarinen was able to create a single-piece form that perfectly facilitated a relaxed sitting posture and a sublime feeling of security. Additional seat and back cushions and the coordinating Womb Ottoman provide a further degree of lavish comfort. The slender steel rod base is constructed of stainless steel ensuring that it won't rust or chip unlike the chrome plated versions. 

The womb chair and ottoman is available in a variety of colours.

Eero Saarinen (August 20, 1910 – September 1, 1961) was a Finnish American architect and product designer of the 20th century famous for varying his style according to the demands of the project: simple, sweeping, arching structural curves or machine-like rationalism.

Saarinen first received critical recognition, while still working for his father, for a chair designed together with Charles Eames for the "Organic Design in Home Furnishings" competition in 1940, for which they received first prize. The "Tulip Chair" became the basis of the seating used on the original Star Trek television series.

Saarinen is now considered one of the masters of American 20th Century architecture. There has been a veritable surge of interest in Saarinen's work in recent years, including a major exhibition and several books. This is partly due to the Roche and Dinkeloo office having donated their Saarinen archives to Yale University, but also because Saarinen's oeuvre can be said to fit in with present-day concerns about pluralism of styles

If, when your furniture arrives, and for whatever reason it is not what you expected, we will remove it and refund your money. Alternatively you can exchange to a different model, colour or size.

Please inform us by email or phone of your decision to return or exchange your furniture within 14 days. The customer is responsible for all returns however we can arrange returns on your behalf. A collection charge of £55 will be applied plus our original cost of delivery at £25 per item. Although delivery is free to you if you decide to keep the item, we must recover these costs in the case of a return.

2.     Two year guarantee.
Our guarantee covers any defect in manufacture and materials, allowing for fair wear and tear. In the unlikely event of a claim, we will repair or replace your furniture entirely free of charge.
